Microblading and shading

To state it simply, microblading is a form of permanent makeup that involves a handheld tool that inserts pigment into the skin while creating hair-like strokes. This handheld tool has a grouping or configuration of needles affixed to the handle that manually creates lines that resemble hair strokes. The configuration of needles resembles a blade, hence the term microblading. This gives the appearance of a naturally fuller looking brow. Microblading shading Post-treatment, Hasan recommends a simple after-care regime: “With a damp, lukewarm pad (not wet), gently wipe the brows every hour or two for the first two days; thereafter, two to three times a day until you are fully healed,” she advises. “When shading is added, skin can scab a bit and the key is to allow these to come off naturally – don’t pick them.” She also recommends keeping the area dry – no heavy sweating, swimming or skincare products near the forehead and brows – for two weeks. “You’ll see real results four weeks later,” she says.

Both treatments last roughly the same amount of time. On average microbladed or microshaded eyebrows can last 1-2 years. That being said, you will need a touch-up about a month after the initial application. Touch up (8 weeks -6 months after your previous visit) Microblading can also go hand-in-hand with microshading. These two procedures are commonly confused as synonymous but microshading is different from microblading and requires extra training and competency. Microshading creates a powdery effect by using a stippling or light tapping method after microblading. Since it’s a levelled-up procedure, it costs an additional $50 to $100 per session.
